Obituary

Vivian L. Kifer Russell, 77, of Clarion, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May, 19, 1940, at home on the Delp family farm in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late David G. and Ruth R. (Riddle) Delp. Vivian was a 1958 graduate of Redbank Valley High School. She was previously married to James H. Kifer, the father of her children, who survive, a daughter, Debra A. Rankin, and her husband Craig, of Clarion, and a son, James L. Kifer, and his wife, Brenda, of Rimersburg. She later married Bob Russell and they moved to Florida. He preceded her in death in 2001; she then returned to Clarion in 2003. Determined to finish her college education which she started following high school, she willed herself to complete her degree at Clarion University at age 50. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Clarion. She loved her Cornerstone family and was active in Bible Study and her Sunday school class. Her claim to fame was being featured on an episode of the television show "Barnwood Builders" when they visited the Delp farm. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Noah and Jacob Rankin; and Jason (Erin) Kifer, and Dustin (Kelli) Kifer; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Ava, Olivia, and Adam; her brother, Alan Delp, of New Bethlehem; and her sister, Madelon (Darl) Callen, of Clarion; and her sister-in-law, Cherie Atkinson, of Phoenix, Arizona. She will be missed by her special friend, Dean Magness. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Delp, and a sister, Avalon Cordell. She was also preceded in death by two close sisters-in-law, Sheila Delp and Jan Delp. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday. An additional visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, at the Leatherwood Church, 889 Church Rd., New Bethlehem, Porter Township, to be followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Pastor John Green of Cornerstone Church will officiate and Pastor Doug Henry of Leatherwood Church will also participate.
