Obituary

Virginia Diann Streator, raised in Corsica, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 9, 2019 surrounded by her family.  She was the daughter of Harold and Ethel Streator, was born in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1945 and lived the majority of her life in Brooklyn, New York where she fulfilled a rich career of 37 years helping adolescents as a probation officer for NYC.  Her interest in Latino cultures and fluency with the Spanish language began with her service in the Peace Corps., in the Dominican Republic, after graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Sociology in 1967. She was a graduate of Clarion Limestone High School, class of 1963, and treasured life-long friendships of those who attended school with her.  Friendships with colleagues in the Peace Corp. also extended over decades until the present time.  Her love of travel and adventure took her across the United States, Canada and into Europe on multiple occasions.  A special interest was developed through her love of history with Gettysburg National Park, where she served as a volunteer on a regular basis. Surviving are her older brother, Scott Streator and his wife, Susan of DuBois, PA and younger sister, Louise Robertson and husband, John of Bethlehem, PA.  She is also loved by her family of one niece, four nephews, five grandnieces and four grandnephews. Her courageous and dedicated life of service will be celebrated at the Goble Funeral Home 330 Wood Street, Clarion, PA 16214 on November 16, 2019, with a viewing beginning at 10:00AM and service to follow at 11:00AM.  Burial in Cedarview Cemetery will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gettysburg Foundation 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA  17325 To view or express condolences, please visit www.GobleFH.net
