Thomas Boyd Means, age 89, of Clarion, passed away on May 12, 2016 at the Clarion Hospital after an extended illness.
Born on April 14, 1927 in Cool Spring, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Dorsey Megs and Madge (Schrecengost) Means. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 66 in Clarion. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was employed by the Glass Container Corporation in Marienville, and after retiring enjoyed wood carving, fishing and hunting.
In 1955, he married the former Mary Alma Hahn who preceded him in death in 1994.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Means and his wife, Valerie, of Clarion, and their children Brandon Means and his wife, Celia, Nicholas Means, Caitlin Means; his daughter Anita Fox, of Shippenville, and her children, Timothy Fox and his wife, Tiffany, Theresa Fox and her significant other Luis Baez, and Bradley Fox. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Michael Fox, Tabitha Fox, Douglas Fox, Tessa Elizabeth Baez, Jasper Fox, and was awaiting the birth of a sixth great-grandchild.
Tom is also survived by his brothers, Lyle Means and his wife Pat, of New Hall, CA, and Darrell Means and his wife, Wilma, of Saegertown, PA; his sister Betty Smith, of California; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dorsey "Mick," and five sisters, Mae, Avenell, Shirley, Vena and Delores.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Funeral Honor Guard of American Legion Post 66 from Clarion at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home to be followed by funeral services with Father Monty Sayers, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church of Clarion officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Crown, PA.
