Thomas J. Banner, 78, of Shippenville, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024 at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Shippenville on March 28, 1946 to the late Denis and Callista (Ochs) Banner.
Tom graduated from Gannon University with a bachelor's of history degree. He proudly served in the United States Army earning the rank of Sergent. He served as a C. I. agent (Counter intelligence) as an interpreter. He honorably received a bronze star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He married the former Linda Miller on July 21, 1973 and she survives. He worked as a terminal supervisor for UPS until his retirement. Tom was a member of the VFW Post 2145 in Clarion and the Knights of Columbus 4th degree.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda (Miller) Banner of Shippenville; brothers Larry Banner (Sandy Hebig) of Fairlawn, OH and Jack Banner of Erie; sisters Donna (Ron) Hartzell of Shippenville, Patti (Mario) Scutella of Erie, Rosie (Tim) Amsler of Shippenville, and Dotti (Frank) Whitmer of Parker. In addition, Tom is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joey Banner, and daughter Holly Banner.
Friends and family will be received from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory Inc: 330 Wood St. Clarion, PA 16214. An additional visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Michael Church: 18765 Route 208 Fryburg, PA 16326. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00am with Rev. Cory Pius, Parochial Vicar officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
