Sylvan "BeeDee" Walters, 89, of Strattanville, PA, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the McKinley Health Center at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville, PA.
She was born in Strattanville, where she lived most of her life, on December 23, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Sylvan Grady. Growing up in Strattanville, BeeDee was active and energetic, participating as a high school cheerleader and later in life enjoying bowling, tennis, hiking and swimming. Faith and family formed the foundation of her life from an early age; she grew up attending the Strattanville United Methodist Church and remained a devout Christian throughout her entire life.
BeeDee was a dedicated and hardworking woman who held various positions throughout her career, including roles at The Clarion News and PennWest Clarion (formerly Clarion University), where she worked as an administrative assistant. She later retired from her husband's company, Evergreen Contracting. BeeDee's greatest passion was her love for the Lord Jesus, followed closely by her deep love and devotion to her family.
On June 25, 1954, she married the love of her life, Scott Walters. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2015.
She is survived by her son, Donald Walters of Cary, North Carolina; her daughter-in-law (wife of the late Michael Walters) of Burlington, Kentucky; her sister, Frances George, and her husband, Ron, a sister-in-law, Ginny Grady, and three beloved grandchildren, Chris Walters, Matthew Walters, and Andy Walters. BeeDee also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews who were very close to her heart: Patty "Dood" Himes, Ron George, Mark Grady, Tari Coull, Lue Wilson, and Randy Leadbetter.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Scott, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Walters, a sister Mary Jane Leadbetter and two brothers Donald "Butch" Grady and Robert Grady.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Goble Funeral Home and Crematory Inc: 330 Wood St. Clarion, PA 16214. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Jeff Foor officiating. Interment will take place at Strattanville Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in BeeDee's memory to Strattanville Global Methodist Church.
