Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth "Bess" Risinger, former longtime Miola resident, passed away on June 30, 2019 at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Bess was born on April 3, 1936 in Miola the daughter of the late William A. and Ellen B. (Fox) Reed. After she finished school, she married William L. Risinger in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1981. Together they built a happy home and she cherished her role as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Bess was a kind and caring woman. She truly loved life and was friendly to everyone she met. Bess had a quick wit and was always smiling and had loved to laugh when telling a joke. She loved being outdoors - tending to her flowers, fishing, bird-watching, and camping. Her fondness for jelly beans was well known to her friends and family, "Oh goody!" She was a devoted member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church where she was active as a member of the Session and the Bible Class. She was also a member of the Leeper Women's Club and the Miola Stitch 'n Chatter Club. Bess is survived by her children, Anna M. Kunselman, of Strattanville, Janet L Renninger (Keith), of Strattanville, Julie Risinger (Richard Berst), of Emlenton, and Jamie Risinger (Aimee Brickey), of Tionesta. She has 14 grandchildren; Heather (Justin), Ricky (Steph), Patrick, Kyle, Amanda (Daliah), Linda (and Bess' special "boyfriend" Donnie), Brian (April), and Justin (Cathy); 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by a brother, William Reed (Dottie), of Saegertown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Donald L. Risinger; a son-in-law, Ricky Kunselman; and a sister, Chloe Johnson. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, from 10-11 a.m. at the Shiloh Church, Miola Road, Clarion, PA. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Miola Cemetery.
