Richard Lee
Irwin Jr
Jul 18, 1944 — Feb 5, 2025
Richard Lee Irwin Jr. the III departed this physical world on February 5, 2025, for his final DJ gig at heaven's gate. Dr. Red, as he was known by many, loved the oldies, especially the Pittsburgh doo wop tunes, and shared his rare musical collection during numerous events throughout western Pennsylvania.
Richard's love of music lives on in his four daughters Jacquelyn Rick (David) of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; Jennifer Solis (Keiner) of Clemmons, NC; Jill Irwin-Hartle (Timothy Hartle) of Taylorsville, NC; and Jodi Stutzman (Bradley) of Clarion, PA and in his grandchildren, Amber Stutzman of Pittsburgh, PA; Haley Stutzman of Statesville, NC; Cole Stutzman of Brookville, PA; Ashley Wheeler and Dawson Wheeler both of Nashville, TN; Claudia Terry (Charles) of New Bern, NC; Monica Solis of Gettysburg, PA; and Reeghan Hartle of Concord, NC, as well as his great grandson Michael Terry of New Bern, NC.
At the age of 18, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force but due to complications at his birth, he was honorably discharged in September 1962. In 1995, Richard retired from Exxon in Pittsburgh, PA. His retirement allowed him to pursue his love of music both on local radio and commissioned DJ gigs. In 2020, Richard moved from Pittsburgh to Clarion Regency Commons where he resided until he fell ill in early January. Richard was a devoted Pittsburgh and local high school sports fan, often sharing team stats, coaching rants, and playoff successes with anyone who would listen.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local high school music program in Dr. Red's memory.
As per family wishes there will be no visitation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory in Clarion.
