Randall B. Shaffer, of Clarion, passed away on December 27, 2014 at the Clarion Hospital. He was 68 years of age.
Born on July 21, 1946 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Howard A. and Germaine (Zacherl) Shaffer. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably from 1964 until 1968. Randy drove trucks for a majority of his career and retired from Wagner Tarps after 15 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion and American Legion Post 66 of Clarion. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, playing cards, laughing, and being a jokester.
Randy is survived by his wife Jane Fye Deeter who he married in 2003. He is also survived by his daughter, Heidi Martin and her husband Todd of Shippenville; his sister, Mary Ellen Stahlman and her long-time companion Ron Ramolt of Brookville; a step-son, Bryan Deeter and his wife Pebbles of Oil City; a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and three step-grandchildren.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Debra Allaman Shaffer in 2001, and a step-daughter, Missy Deeter in 1994.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Randy's name to the Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital, 150 Doctor's Lane, Suite 1, Clarion PA 16214 (www.clarionhospital.org).
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, in Clarion where visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 29, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30. Military honors will be accorded by the Honor Guard from American Legion Post 66 of Clarion at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main Street in Clarion at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31 with Father Monty Sayers officiating. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
