Obituary

Peggy Sue (Hopkins) Bachman, 83, of Shippenville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Clarion Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Dallas, Texas, to parents Raymond F. and Neota (O'Brien) Hopkins on July 18, 1942, Peggy grew up in nearby Lancaster with her sisters and brother. In 1958, she met Lloyd George Bachman, who'd been serving with the US Air Force in Ft. Worth. They were married in December of that year.

A homemaker, Peggy spent her time taking care of her five children, participating in her sewing circle, painting ceramics and even taking cake decorating classes throughout the 70s. She was famous at family reunions for her Peggy Fried Chicken and hard fudge and loved to show off her Southern Belle roots by wearing skirts with petticoats.

Once her grandchildren were born, she took on the role of caregiver once more, sewing endless outfit options for Barbie dolls, teaching them about her home state with re-runs of Walker Texas Ranger and making sure they knew everything about her true love: Elvis Presley.

In her later years, Peggy spent her time writing letters to numerous pen pals, enjoying old Westerns and attending Friday family dinners at Perkins. Her happy place was sitting on her deck in the sun with a cup of tea.

She will be remembered as a loving presence in the lives of many with a creative spark that knew no bounds. Her love of all things pigs and a penchant for sending letters with surprise confetti inside will live in our hearts forever.

Peggy is survived by her children Kenneth Bachman (Rana) of Longmont, Colorado, Daniel Bachman (Amy) of Clarion, Debra Aldrich of Clarion, Kimberly Titley of Knox, and Lloyd Bachman, Jr. of Shippenville; grandchildren Jessica Williams (John) of Hopwood, Kayla Beck (Shawn), of Penn Borough, Stephanie Aldrich of Canutillo, Texas, Andrew Bachman of Clarion, Arthur Titley of Olympia, Washington, Kolton Bachman of Longmont, Colorado, and Cayman Bachman of Raleigh, North Carolina; great-grandchildren Logan, Kenton and Ella Beck of Penn Borough, and Ellis and Hudson Bachman of Longmont, Colorado; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; sisters Nita Rae (Hopkins) Boehringer and Linda (Hopkins) Jones; brother Donald Hopkins; son-in-law Johnny Aldrich, Sr.; and grandsons Johnny Aldrich, Jr., and Ken Bachman, Jr.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, May 28 at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion, PA 16214 with funeral service following. Entombment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park.
