Obituary

Pearl Lucy Snyder passed away on December 30, 2017 at Highland Oaks at Water Run Landing following a brief illness. She was 84 years of age. Pearl was born on May 6, 1933 in Paint Township the daughter of the late James Levi and Hazel Elizabeth (Groce) Snyder. She was the middle child of eleven children and graduated from Clarion Area High School. She worked for Sylvania in Brookville, Corle-Benn Auto Parts in Clarion, and then had a long career as a caseworker with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, retiring in 1996 after 24 years of dedicated service. Pearl was a devoted member of the Strattanville United Methodist Church, serving in the UMW and helping out with dinners and various committees and groups through the years. Pearl is survived by her brothers, Carl R. Snyder (Rita), of Winona Lake, IN, Larry E. Snyder, of Clarion, and C. Lee Snyder (Deneise), of Apollo, PA; her sisters, Vera Moore (Robert), of West Middlesex, PA, Helen Smith, of Shippenville, PA, E. Jane Bell (Fred), of Garrettsville, OH, and Sara I. Snyder, of Clarion, PA. She is also survived by her dear, close friend, Sarah Rachel Seigworth, of Clarion. In addition, Pearl is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glenn E. and Ivan T. Snyder; and a sister LaVena Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pearl's name to the Strattanville United Methodist Church, 421 Washington Street, PO Box 96, Strattanville PA 16258. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday. An additional visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the Strattanville United Methodist Church, 421 Washington Street, Strattanville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Nancy Zahn and Jeff Foor officiating. Interment will be in the Strattanville Cemetery.
