Obituary

Pauline M. Wiberg, 94, formerly of Clarion, died Saturday, September 24, in Laurelbrooke Personal Care, Brookville, PA. Born June 23, 1922, in Corsica, she was the daughter of Hazel Elder Miles and George Miles. She was married on September 1, 1951, to L. Robert Wiberg, who predeceased her in 2006, after 55 happy and devoted years together. Mrs. Wiberg was a graduate of Clarion Limestone High School. She graduated from Clarion State Teachers College, now Clarion University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. She did graduate work at Indiana University and at Clarion University, where she earned a Master of Education degree. She taught school for forty years, beginning in 1944 and retiring in 1984. She taught in the Ninth Street School in Franklin, PA, the Monaca Elementary School in Monaca, PA, the Ashland Elementary School, the Clarion State Teachers College Demonstration School, and the Boundary Street School in Clarion, PA. Most of those years were spent teaching first grade. Pauline found great joy in remembering her years of teaching, and her many much-loved students. She was a lifelong member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where at various times she served as choir director, Sunday School teacher, Bible School director, and youth director. She was a member of Group III United Methodist Women of the Clarion Methodist Church. She was a Life Member of the Clarion County Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Education Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society, and the Clarion Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by several cousins and their families, her husbands sister, Betty Ann Turner of Buffalo, NY, and several of her husbands nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday, October 2, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Strattanville, PA Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 2, at the church. Interment will be at the Asbury Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Paulines memory to the Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 19801 US 322, Strattanville PA 16258 or the L. Robert Wiberg Scholarship Fund at Clarion Area High School, 219 Liberty St, Clarion PA 16214
