Nancy Jane
Kendrick
Jun 25, 1953 — Dec 15, 2024
Nancy Jane Kendrick peacefully transitioned to heaven on December 15, 2024, after a valiant and courageous battle against time with dementia and Parkinson's disease. She was a woman of faith who was endlessly kind, brave, empathetic, determined and selfless as a devoted mother, partner, grandmother, daughter and aunt.
While her conditions did not define her, Nancy had a robust list of activities and interests that sparked utter joy. She always loved to cheer on her children and grandchildren - occasionally with a hand whistle - at swim meets, water polo, softball, basketball and recitals. Nancy was an avid gardener, piano player, music lover and enthused Bengals fan and could always be found hosting for the holidays or book club, attending or teaching bible school, binge watching Hallmark movies or indulging in the occasional happy hour. A devout Presbyterian, she was always an active member as a deacon or session member wherever she was, including at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, Ohio, First Presbyterian Church of Glendale, Ohio and Madeira Silverwood Presbyterian Church of Madeira, Ohio.
Her childhood is that of her generation-born on June 25, 1953, to William Addison Kendrick, a World War II Veteran, and his beloved wife, Helen Jane (Brackney) Kendrick. The family moved from her birthplace of Saginaw, Michigan to Clarion, Pennsylvania when Nancy was a toddler. She graduated from Clarion Area High School in 1971 and went on to become an unabashed alumna of Westminster College (PA). Nancy was a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, a synchronized swimmer and an early graduate in 1974 with a degree in English and Business Administration.
After Nancy's marriage in 1974, she welcomed three daughters into this world, which became her proudest accomplishment. Nancy worked for over 25 years at Standard Textile of Reading, Ohio as a Customer Service Representative and Learning & Development Designer- always checking the linen brands of every hospital or hotel. She retired in 2019 and lovingly partnered with her best friend, Randy Herron of Troy, Ohio, where they lived together with her dog and constant companion, Wilson.
Nancy was preceded in passing by her parents and her sister, Mary Christine (Kendrick) Scott. She is survived by her children, Michelle (Ross) Wendlinger (David), Barbara (Ross) Bergan (David), and Patricia Ross (Timothy Bertocci) and her five grandchildren: Eleanor Wendlinger, Caroline Wendlinger, Benjamin Bergan, Colin Bergan and Thomas Wendlinger.
Nancy's celebration of life will be held in Troy, Ohio at the First Presbyterian Church on January 25, 2025, at 11:00 am ET.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Clarion Cemetery.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's memory to the University of Cincinnati's James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Fund.
