Nadine Delp, age 91, of Marianne Estates, Shippenville, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at her home surrounded in love by friends and family.
Born April 13, 1923, in Buffalo, NY, Nadine was the eldest daughter of John and Mary Walter Cimra. She grew up in Indiana County, PA, graduating from Homer City High School. Nadine married Edgar M. Delp in 1946 and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage, raising two daughters, Marianne and Susan in Rimersburg.
Nadine proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of Sergeant. She was in charge of payroll for NCO personnel who were missing in action or prisoners of war.
She worked at Owens-Illinois for 20 years as the insurance administrator, retiring in 1983. She made many friends at O-I, the Clarion Community Choir, of which she was a charter member, and 2 bridge clubs.
An active member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarion, Nadine served as an Elder and Deacon, sang in the choir, rang hand bells, and was always involved in the Women's Association.
Nadine enjoyed traveling, most recently sailing through the Panama Canal. Planes, buses, and automobiles took her around the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. Her favorite trips, however, were to be with her family, especially at Christmas.
Nadine was a much-loved mother, grandmother, and friend, and her free spirit will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed her giving and effervescent personality.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, an infant son, William John and her sister Mary Lee.
Nadine is survived by her daughters, Marianne "Mame" (Larry) Linford of Downingtown, PA and Susan (Richard) Copp of Roscoe, IL; granddaughters, Jessica Copp, Amanda McBride, Morgan Copp and Nancy Linford; sisters Vivian Hlobilek, Rosella Barto and Laura (Fred) Arcurio; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize the kindness shown to Nadine by the staff of UPMC Northwest and Clarion-Forest VNA during her illness.
Memorial contributions may be made to mission outreach of First Presbyterian Church of Clarion.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion, 7th and Wood Streets, with Rev. Scott Hauser, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
