Obituary

Mary Jane Rex, of Route 322, Cranberry, passed away on June 4, 2016 at UPMC Northwest. She was 79 years of age. Born on April 20, 1937 in Knox, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Margaret (Perry) Hartzell. In 1957, she married Gale W. Rex who preceded her in death in 2006. Mary Jane worked for Country Farm Supply for 17 years and also decorated wedding and birthday cakes for 20-plus years, making special days more memorable for many families. She loved bowling and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville and a member of the church choir. She joined Clarion Chapter 267 Order of the Eastern Star in 1982 and she was treasurer from 1991 until 2016. She is survived by her children, a son, Kenneth Rex, of Canfield, OH; her daughter, Cindy Jack and husband Todd, of Cranberry; her sisters, Shirley Markle, of Marianne Estates, and Ruth Ann Campbell and husband Charles, of Maryland. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Mandy Nugent and husband Ryan, of Knox, and Rachel Jack, of Cranberry, and one great-grandchild, Monique Nugent; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charitable Deeds and Services, 260 High Point Rd, Knox PA 16232, Knox Ambulance Company, PO Box 636, Knox PA 16232, or Knox Volunteer Fire Company, 514 East Railroad St, Knox PA 16232. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory. Family will receive visitors at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Main Street, Shippenville, from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday. Members of Chapter 267 of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold a service at 11:00 a.m. at the church to be followed by funeral services with Pastor Donald Hake presiding. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Shippenville.
