Marie M. Showers, 81, of Day City Road, Strattanville, passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on May 31, 2017 following a brief illness. Born on June 30, 1935 in Clarion, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Carrie Romaine (Brinker) Sloan. She attended Clarion-Limestone High School and then worked at Owens-Illinois Glass for 20 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. On May 28, 1955, she married Harry B. "Pete" Showers. Together they raised three daughters before he preceded her in death on April 12, 1999. Marie enjoyed music, reading, watching cooking and food shows and collecting cook books. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she loved greatly and of whom she was so proud. Marie is survived by her three daughters, Robin Baldwin and husband Gary, of Clearfield, Rhonda Sherbine and husband Matthew, of Leeper, and Rachelle Gormont, of Clearfield; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Baldwin, Erin Gormont, Bob Gormont, Daniel Sherbine, and Paige Sherbine; and her sister, Barbara McCall, of Oxford, FL. She is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews and their families. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Robert L. Gormont, Jr.; and a brother, James Sloan. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by funeral services at 4:00 p.m., with Father Monty Sayers officiating. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
