Obituary

Margaret Eleanor Courson "Peg" Staab of Clarion, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on August 23, 2016, following a short illness. She was 92 years of age. Born on April 27, 1924 in Sligo, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late David and Francis (Fox) Courson. Peg was well-known in Clarion having worked at Phero's Market, Garbarino's Market, and was a dental hygienist for Dr. White. She later worked as the bakery manager at Riverside Market. In 1948, she was married to Joseph Daniel Staab, who preceded her in death. Peg was an active 64-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, volunteered with the church, and a card club member. Peg is survived by her daughters, Peggy Jo Staab, of Clarion, Betty Jo Banner, also of Clarion, and Mary Jo Barger and husband Thomas of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lindsay Banner, of Baltimore, MD, Andrew Banner and wife Kate, of Dallas, TX, Matthew Barger, of Landstuhl, Germany, and Melissa Barger, of Morgantown, WV. Peg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Bertha Mapes, Grace McElravy, Lois Galentine and Maxine Hannold; brothers Fred Courson, Ralph Courson, and Dean Courson; and son-in-law Tony Banner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Church Organ Fund at the First United Methodist Church, 600 Wood Street, Clarion PA 16214 (www.fumc-clarion.org), or Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA 16214 (www.cfvna.org). Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, in Clarion. Visitation will be held at 10-11 a.m. Friday in the gathering area at the First United Methodist Church, 600 Wood Street, Clarion PA. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Jake Jacobson, family neighbor and pastor of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clarion, and Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, co-officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
