Lulu Belle Gourley, age 93, passed away on September 20, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Clarion where she has resided for the past several years.
Born on March 22, 1921, in Piney Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of James and Lestie (Steele) Elder. Lulu was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
On October 21, 1939, she married Paul F. Gourley. Together they made a home and raised a family before he preceded her in death in 2005.
Lulu enjoyed being a homemaker, doing ceramics, quilting and making afghans for the special people in her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion and the United Methodist Women of that congregation. Lulu was also active at one time in the Murphy Grange and the Rebekah's Lodge in Clarion.
Lulu is survived by her two sons, Joe (Evie) Gourley and Larry (Penny) Gourley both of Sligo; her two daughters, Garnett Thomas of Lakeland, Florida and Monta Rader of Clarion; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lulu was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel, Ralph, John, Glen, Paul, and George Elder; and her sisters, Arveda Over, Leota Laughlin, and Arlene Davis.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24 from 10-11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 600 Wood Street in Clarion to be followed by funeral services at 11:00a.m. Rev. Kevin Haley, pastor, and Rev. Arnie Rhodes, pastor emeritus, officiating. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville.
