Leona Servey, a beloved matriarch, homemaker, and avid camper, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the age of 96 years. Born on May 7, 1929, in Reidsburg, PA, she was a cherished resident of Shippenville, PA, at the time of her passing.
Throughout her life, Leona was dedicated to her family and community. Her days were filled with the joys of homemaking, where she found happiness in gardening, particularly tending to her flowers, as well as in canning the fruits of her labor. She had a great love for the outdoors and was an enthusiastic camper, cherishing the moments spent under the stars with family and friends.
Leona had a deep affection for her cats and relished family gatherings, especially when surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. These gatherings were a source of immense joy for her, providing countless cherished memories.
She was a charter member of the Eagles, where she fostered friendships and community spirit. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, James Space and Ethel Hartzell Space; her devoted husband, Edward Servey, who passed away in January 2009; her sons, Samuel Space and Frank Servey; her sisters, Sarah Ruffner, Edna Foringer, Mildred Byers, Florence Eberlin, Eva Learn, Elsie Wilson, and Geraldine Space; and her brothers, James and Thomas Space.
She leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory: Daniel (Pam) Space of Shippenville, Tom Servey of Clarion, Mark (Liz) Servey of Clarion, Bruce (Candy) Servey of Limestone, and Jack (Gretchen) Servey of Clarion. Also surviving are her daughters, Peggy (Punk) Gourley of Clarion, and Anita (Jeff) Hinkle of Emlenton, as well as her sister, Alda Whitehill of Erie. Leona's legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St, Clarion, PA. A funeral service celebrating Leona's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the same location. Interment will follow in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
Leona Servey's life was a testament to love, family, and community. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
