Joseph Samuel McLaine, 100, a resident of Huckleberry Ridge Road, Knox, PA, died Thursday, May 31, 2018.
Joe was born December 10, 1917, in Miola, PA. He was the eighth child of Joseph Franklin McLaine and Mary Blanche DeVilder McLaine.
He married Mary Louise Beckwith on January 1, 1947. They had two sons.
Joe was a farmer all his life. He and Mary purchased a chicken farm in 1952 and moved to Elk City. After raising chickens for many years, they then included dairy into their farming operation.
Joe was patient, quiet man, and was never to busy to help others.
Surviving are his sons, Jerry and wife, Marlene, McLaine, Knox, PA and Rodney McLaine and wife, Anita Knox, PA. Three grandchildren, Samuel and wife, Ashley McLaine, Shippenville, PA, Jolie McLaine and Dale McLaine, both of Knox, PA; a step-grandson, Tim Harkness, two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Evan McLaine, and two step-great-grandsons, Justin and Jerred Harkness, and a sister-in-law, Donna Beckwith and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, five sisters, Helen McLaine, Willard McCleary Reed, Elsie Kiser, Nancy Younkers, Margaret McClaine two brothers, John Ray McLaine and William Howard McLaine.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, Clarion, PA. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Goble Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Hunsberger officiating. Interment will be in the Miola Cemetery.
