Melvyn A. "Jerry" McKisson, of McKisson Road, Fisher, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 16. He was 78 years old. Born on January 24, 1937, in Clarion, he was the son of the late Arvon and Margaret (Irwin) McKisson. He was married to the former Betty Shaffer, who survives. He was the owner of McKisson & Son Contractors, a cement contracting firm. Jerry was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 101 in Clarion, the Clarion Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars 2145 in Clarion, and the Fryburg Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed deep water ocean fishing, and sprint car racing with his son, Andy, and he just liked to work. He also liked kicking back and enjoying a few cold ones with his buddies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Andrew (Ginny) McKisson and John (Karen) McKisson, both of Fisher; his grandchildren, Matthew (Kery) of Fisher, and Kristy (Michael) Teeter, of Florida; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grady, and Mallory; his step-granddaughter, Erica Hetrick; his sister, Carol (Jim) Mays and their children, Gina and Jamie Mays; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, George Shaffer. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where friends and family will be received from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Chaplain Bill Beck of Motor Racing Outreach officiating. After the service, the family will host a reception with light snacks and a toast to Jerry at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Clarion.
