Janet Newton Miller of Strattanville passed away on April 8, 2017 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was 81 years of age.
Born on November 18, 1935 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Frank K. and Emma Pearl (Newton) Miller. She graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg in 1957 with an A.B., the Pennsylvania State University in 1961 with a M.Ed., and the University of Pittsburgh in 1966 with a M.Ed.
She was an elementary and secondary school guidance counselor in Jamestown, NY, an adult education counselor in the Baltimore, MD Public Schools, and then served as the G.E.D. teacher at the Clarion County Vo-Tech.
Janet enjoyed reading and travelling in her earlier years, gardening and participating in sports. She was a former member of the Clarion American Association of University Women, former member of Delta Kappa Gamma Assoc. (women educators) of Jamestown, NY, New York State, Western NY State and Southern Chautauqua County Teachers Associations (retired), and the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion.
She is survived by her cousins, Arthur Pierce and wife Debbie, of Brunswick, ME, Dorothy Allyn of Beachwood, OH, Robert Singer and wife Meryl, of Lititz, PA; and special friends, Pamela and John Gaetano and their children, Josina and Nickolas, of Summerville, Ann Graybill, of Shippenville, and Patt and Mark Dietz, of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by many cousins and members of her extended family.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. A memorial service will be held at the mausoleum chapel of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery on Tuesday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Scanlon, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Clarion, presiding. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
