Janet A. Faraone, formerly of Tionesta, passed away on July 20, 2016, in Conroe, TX, where she had been residing, surrounded by her children. Janet was 78 years of age.
Born on March 1, 1938, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Lester B. and Evelyn (Gilmore) Avery. She was a graduate of North Clarion High School and received an Associate of Arts degree in Humanities from Gannon University.
In 1958 she married Frank Faraone at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarion, PA. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Janet was a bank teller/branch secretary for PNC Bank, Tionesta, PA until her retirement in 1993. Prior to that, she worked as telephone operator for Bell of PA in Clarion. Janet was a wonderful mother and loving grandmother who stayed at home to raise her family; she also taught private piano lessons in her home.
She was active in community service by doing typing and clerical work for the Tionesta Area Chamber of Commerce and the Forest County Taxpayers Association. She was a Lady Lion with the Tionesta Lions Club. She was also a 4-H Leader and Girl Scout Leader. She was a church organist for the Faith Lutheran Church, Venus, PA and was on their worship committee.
Janet enjoyed music, photography, gardening, and floral arranging.
She is survived by her children, Sue Gourley and husband Bob of New Bethlehem, and Philip Faraone and wife Laura of Willis, TX; and her grandchildren, Alex Gourley and wife Lea of Honolulu, HI, Olivia Gourley, of San Diego, CA, and Elizabeth Gourley, of New Bethlehem, and step-grandsons, Dallas King and wife Jade of Houston, TX, and Dillon King of Seabrook, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
Local arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 421 Madison Street, Clarion, with Pastor Jake Jacobson, presiding. Interment will be in the Tylersburg Cemetery.
