Throughout the years, Janet taught at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania, The Pennsylvania State University, and the Wayne State College in Nebraska.
Janet also taught private piano and voice lessons to many families in the Clarion area. She always enjoyed holding her piano student recitals and having a Southern-style tea in the lawn with her students afterward.
Outside of music, Janet was an avid gardener and enjoyed bird watching. She loved all animals, particularly horses. Janet owned a pony growing up in Virginia and attended countless horse events and workshops throughout her lifetime.
Janet was also a strong supporter of the Clarion Area Band Boosters and spent many years organizing fund raising opportunities. Janet was also a long-standing and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. She attended services, sang, and taught Sunday School. She also held a very active leadership role with The American Cancer Society.
