Shaw
Nov 21, 1927 — Apr 25, 2026
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Helen M. Shaw passed away peacefully at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, PA.
This exceptional woman was the 5th child of Charles W and Ruth Chick Lines of Dubois, PA, and is preceded in death by her brothers Charles, George, John, Arthur and Jim Lines and her sister, Lois Lines Monella; as well as by her beloved husband, Joseph H. Shaw. She is survived by her three daughters: Dr. Linda Shaw of CA; Cathy Jo Shaw Selker of PA, and Bonnie Shaw Pfaff of MD; as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Raised in DuBois, PA, Helen married the love of her life, Joseph H. Shaw, in 1948. The couple soon relocated to Clarion, PA, where Helen skillfully managed the finances for her husband's trucking business. Following Joe's untimely death in 1966, she assumed full management of the business while simultaneously raising 3 teenage daughters and continuing her pursuit of her Bachelors, and ultimately Masters, Degrees in Library Science at Clarion State Teachers College. When she sold the trucking business 3 years later, she became the librarian and audio-visual coordinator at Clarion-Limestone High School, a position she held for 25 years prior to her retirement.
A lover of music, Helen sang in both the choir at the United Methodist Church of Clarion as well as in the Clarion Community Choir. Her professional affiliations included PASR-PSERs, NEA, and several other educational associations. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Clarion and a Girl Scout leader.
As an avid traveler, Helen journeyed from Scotland to New Zealand to Israel to several European countries, and even climbed the Great Wall of China. Her travels were always an adventure, filled with humorous moments she loved to relate to others. She enjoyed walking, music, family time, new experiences, and people, and had a joyous love of life and learning and a sparkling sense of humor that endeared her to everyone around her. The beautiful tapestry of her life was woven by boundless love, wisdom, and strength, and will continue to warm the hearts of each member of her extended family.
A private family service will be held on April 29, 2026 at Goble Funeral Home: 330 Wood St. Clarion, PA 16214 with a private interment at Clarion cemetery.
