George L. Russell, 86, of Knox, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2018. He passed away at Clarion Hospital after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in York, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Howard and Catherine Russell of Clarion. After graduating from Clarion High, George joined the Navy and was stationed in California. After his enlistment, George became a Detective for the Azusa Police Department. George met and married his first love, Helene (Waldner) Russell. George and Helene returned to Shippenville, PA to be closer to family. George worked for the State of Pennsylvania, as a Domestic Relations Officer for Clarion County. Helene preceded him in death in 2002. George married Esther P. Reott, of Knox in May 2005, who preceded him in death in April 2018. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved a good game of golf. The American Legion was always a favorite place for George to meet up with friends. George will be missed by his loving daughter, Michelle Russell of Saint Petersburg, Florida; and his son, Greg and Susie Russell of Hanford, California and three grandchildren Ronnie and Erica of Hanford; Laura Leal of Hanford and David Leal of Hanford and six great grandchildren Devin Leal, Makenna Leal, Damien Reyes, Noah Reyes, Ty Leal, and Monet Rios all of Hanford, California. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2pm on Friday, June 15, 2018 with funeral services immediately following at Goble Funeral Home located 330 Wood Street, Clarion PA.
