George Edward Girt, age 60, of Clarion, passed away at his son's home on September 13, 2017 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born on January 3, 1957 in Brookville to the late James K. and Jane V. (Gourley) Girt. George enjoyed his time spent hunting and fishing with his family and being outdoors. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3807 in Clarion. He is survived by his sons, Richard A. Girt and wife Megan (Rupert), and Curtis L. Girt and wife Katie (Ochs), both of Clarion; his grandchildren, Jesalyn Jae Girt, Ryli Paige Girt, and Hayes Edward Girt. George is also survived by his brother, Rodney L. Girt and wife Karen, of Limestone; his sisters, Kathy J. Bell and husband Robert, of Clarion, and Caroline A. Dolby and husband Eugene, of Limestone. He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, including his special hunting buddies Josh and Bly Dolby, Nick Albu and too many others to list, including his animal buddies, Tucker and Rud. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy L. "Tad" Gourley and James K. Girt. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. There will be no public visitation or services. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
