Obituary

Dr. Patty Hall Laswick of Marianne passed away on September 28, 2018 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she had been residing. She was 81 years of age. Patty was born on June 24, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Keith Hall and Evelyn Soliday; both of whom have preceded her in death. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College and then received her Master of Arts from Brooklyn College. Dr. Laswick earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She served on the faculty of Clarion State College / Clarion University in the Chemistry Department from 1970 until her retirement at the rank of professor in 1997. Patty was a tireless supporter of women's rights, environmental causes, democracy, and animal rights. She shared her home with her beloved feline family members. In 1974, she helped found the Clarion State College Women's Equity League and was an active member of the Clarion County League of Women Voters. She cherished the Clarion wilds around her home and was a member of the Seneca Rocks Audubon Society. Patty was a Founder of Clarion PAWS (Pet Adoption and Welfare Society) in 2009, and Founder and Benefactor of Tri-County Animal Rescue Center, Inc. in 2011. She is survived her half-sister, Audrey Hall of Montana. Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. A celebration of Patty's life will be held at Michele's Café on Main Street in Clarion on November 4, 2018 from noon until 3:00 PM. Please come and share memories and stories. All are welcome.
