Carrol "Kay" Irene Gilmore, 78 of Miola Road, Lucinda, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Born on November 24, 1938, in Kossuth, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Angie (Culp)ONeil. Kay graduated from Keystone High School in 1957, where she was majorette.
She married Fred Gilmore on September 17, 1960 at the Grace Evangelical Church in Ninevah.Together they adopted a daughter, Melissa, on June 30th, 1976.
She worked at the Knox Glass Plant and also numerous banks in the area. She also was very involved in her community.
Kay was a member of the Helen Furnace United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Eastern Star of Clarion, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Clarion American Legion. She also was a member of the Fryburg Sportsmans Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her six grandchildren were the love of her life.
She loved baking and cooking, and keeping her house spotless. Kay made friends wherever she went, and she had a smile for everyone.
Kay is survived by her husband, Fred Gilmore; her daughter, Melissa Gilmore Schill, and son-in-law Chris Schill; six grandchildren, Brianna Nickerson and fianc Jordan Cook, both of Era, Texas, Christian Schill, Bailey Nickerson, Caitlin Schill, Grace Schill, and Madison Schill, all of Lamartine.
She is also survived by a sister, Susan ONeil Lineman and brother-in-law, Charles Lineman. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Eloise Hoover and Joanne Simpson and her husband Dean, and a brother-in-law, Terry Gilmore and his wife, Pam, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by three sisters; Freda Moyer, Mary Henderson, and Shirley Whittling; and five brothers; Bill O'Neil, John O'Neil, Dan O'Neil, Russ O'Neil and Merle O'Neil.
She leaves behind many special and precious memories to be cherished.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where Kay's family will receive visitors on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. An Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Blystone, pastor of Helen Furnace United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Helen Furnace Cemetery.
