Byron E.
Collier
Nov 8, 1939 — Jun 8, 2026
Byron Elwood Collier passed away peacefully at his home in Clarion, Pennsylvania, on the morning of June 8th, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on November 8, 1939, in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, to Elwood and Hazel (Mann) Collier, Byron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Bonnie (Greno) Collier.
Byron attended Hampton High School before serving in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he entered the business world and went on to build several successful businesses.
Byron is survived by his brother, Richard Collier, and his wife, Marilyn; his children, Mark Collier and his wife, Cathy; Keith Collier and his wife, Lisa; Laury Darragh; Deneen Yeager and her husband, Ed; and Chris Collier and his wife, Sarah; as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn, JoAnn, Donna, and Nina, and by his grandson, Nicholas Yeager.
Hard work and determination defined Byron throughout his life. He built and operated many business ventures, including truck driving, Snap-on Tools, auto repair, car washes, gas stations, convenience stores, landscape supplies, and the farm where he raised beef cattle. He loved doing business, cared deeply for the people he served, and valued the relationships he built along the way. Countless people considered him a mentor and sought his guidance and advice.
In his free time, Byron enjoyed campgrounds with the biggest RV trailers available, hauling seven snowmobiles at a time, fishing and ski boats, building tree stands with microwaves, spending winters in Florida, and making memories with family and friends at the Clarion River camp. He loved his farm and the home he and his wife built and shared for four decades, where he ultimately passed, his final word being "Amen" in response to recited scripture and prayer.
Above all, Byron loved the Lord. He knew Jesus from childhood, served Him faithfully, and is now with Him and his wife for eternity.
A private funeral service will be held for the family at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Friends and family are welcomed to join us as we celebrate Byron's life on Friday, June 19th, at 4 p.m. at the Avalon at Buhl Park in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St. Clarion, PA 16214.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to the organizations Byron supported: samaritanspurse.org and t2t.org.
