Obituary

Betty Lou Mahle, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Born November 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Jesse M. (Prenett) Detrick. A lifelong resident of Strattanville, Pennsylvania, Betty was a dedicated and faithful member of New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church and Alpha Assembly of God.

Betty married Russell E. Mahle on December 25, 1949, and together they shared more than 70 years of marriage and life on their farm until his passing in 2020. She loved working in her garden, canning her harvest, and lovingly baking fruit pies to share with family and friends. Betty also had an adventurous spirit. She took to the skies in a hot air balloon and, just last year, excitedly rode in a helicopter, where she enjoyed a bird's-eye view of her beloved farm. Most of all, Betty cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth (Sue), Charles (Ellie), and James (Greta); seven beloved grandchildren, Jamie (Stacy), Kerri (Fred), Roberta (Russ), Jason (Nicki), Amy (Derek), Josh (Amy), and Becky (Doug); ten adored great-grandchildren; and one precious great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Linda McClure; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ellen. Betty also leaves behind her kitty, Isabelle.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, John; an infant daughter; her brothers, Floyd and Frederick; and her sister, Mildred.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Goble Funeral Home, 330 Wood Street, Clarion, PA 16214. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am, with Rev. David Selleck officiating. Interment will follow in New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to Alpha Assembly of God.
