Barbara Jean ONeil, age 58, died June 17, 2016 at Serenity House in Shippenville, after a long battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on January 4, 1958 in Bradford, Pennsylvania and was the youngest of four children born to William and Genevieve (Morrell) Smith.
On November 22, 1980, she was married to Paul ONeil, who survives.
Barbara graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1975. In 1979 she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Clarion University and later went on to obtain a Masters of Science in Education from Clarion University. She was employed by Brookville Area School District for the majority of her career and retired from Oil City Area School District. She held various positions, including English Teacher, English Department Chair, Assistant Principal and Principal.
Barbara loved to travel and ride her bike with friends. She was an avid shopper with a love of shoes and enjoyed spending time with her family and dogs Sadie, Chloe, Ryleigh and Macy.
In addition to her husband Paul, Barbara is survived by her son, Paul Ryan ONeil, of Jersey City, NJ; a daughter, Kelly Siegel, and husband Travis, and two granddaughters, Noelle and Scarlett Siegel, of Clarion, PA.
She is further survived by her brother, Stephen Smith and wife Kay of Kirkwood, PA; her sisters, Lynda Thrush and husband Allan of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Deborah Hostetter and husband Jerry of Rockville, MD; two brothers-in-law, Michael ONeil and his wife Sandy of Princeton, NJ and Thomas ONeil and his wife, Lori of Titusville, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son Sean Patrick ONeil.
Barbara was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion where she was a member of the Bell Choir and served on various committees while attending.
One of Barbs favorite activities was to walk the State Game Lands with her dogs so in lieu of flowers her family requests donations are sent in her name to ASPCA and Clarion PAWS.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home, 330 Wood Street in Clarion, where Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24th. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 700 Wood Street, in Clarion.
