Sarah Augustine, age 91, formerly of Greenville Pike in Clarion died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at the Laurel Brook Landing in Brookville following a short stay. She was surrounded by her family. She was a woman of strong faith and dearly loved her family. She was born on Nov. 11, 1926, in Clarion to Sam and Anna Mae (Alexander) Harnish. Sarah said she was 4 years old when she first realized that the annual Armistice Day Parade was not in honor of her birthday.

She taught first grade at Corsica Elementary and coached sixth grade girls basketball until 1951 and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church since at the age of 12, serving on several committees and as an elder and teacher. She was an active quilter, dinner organizer and prayer warrior. She was the anchor of the church's prayer chain. She crafted beautiful quilts at home and at her church.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean A. McKinney-Huwar (Bryan), of Shippenville; and Susan K. (James Schierberl) Augustine, of Laramie, Wyoming; two sons, Frank M. (Rona) Augustine, of Harrisburg; and James S. (Holly) Augustine, of Waynesburg. She had a gift for spoiling her 12 grandchildren, Jonathan (Laurie) McKinney, Bryan D. (Liz) Huwar, Lucas (Lee Homes) Huwar, Brendan (Kate) Huwar, Kaylee (Tyler Hopkins) Porter, Sarah Michelle (Colin Moon) Porter, Anthony (Emily) Augustine, Kassidy (Brandon) Yeager, Taylor Augustine, Niki Augustine, Sam (Sarah) Augustine, Luca Augustine; and 8 great-grandchildren, Bryson, Wade, Hank, Ada, Liam and Lila Huwar, Theo McKinney and Oaklee Augustine. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
