Obituary for Patricia K. Morgan

Patricia K. Morgan, Ph.D. Psychologist, passed away at 10:45 PM October 19, 2018 at the Clarion Hospital from a brain aneurysm.

Pat was born October 2, 1946 in Allegheny County, daughter of the Caroline Seitz of Clarion, who survives, and the late Charles Nestler.

Pat is survived by her husband Don Morgan; her son, Jeff Thomas (Michelle) of Knox, PA; stepdaughters Carrie Morgan, Terri Morgan (Jerry VonBuskirk), and Lorri Morgan, all of Boise, Idaho; and stepson, Jack Morgan of Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Also surviving is a grandson, Tyler Thomas of Fryburg, and step-grandchildren Hayden Fleet Morgan of Fearrington Village, North Carolina, and Jake and Andrea Stuart, of Boise, Idaho.

In addition to her mother, Pat is also survived by her siblings, Guido Mangiantini (Dacel), of New Albany, Ohio, Julia Shick of Brookville, PA, Madeline Copenhaver (Jesse) of Shippenville, PA and siser-in-law Dell Morgan of Palm Springs, California; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clem Seitz and a sister, Carol Neiswonger.

Patricia graduated from Redbank Valley High School, Clarion University, and Duquesne University. Her degrees include a B.S. in Business, B.A. in Psychology, a M.Ed. in Education, a M.A. in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Morgan went on to specialize in treating patients with PTSD. She also did an extended internship in Retail Therapy with her best friend Kay Collier. She loved giving gifts and helping people.

In 2010, Dr. Patricia K. Morgan was recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership, and excellence in Positive Psychology and in Psychotherapy.

Pat is a charter member of the International Positive Psychology Association and was an active participant in all 5 World Congress of Positive Psychology assemblies. Her last was in Montreal and at the time of her death she was making preparations for the 6th World congress in Melbourne, Australia in June, 2019.

Pat had a unique combination of placing high value on her personal qualities and open acceptance of others. She was a great listener. The chemistry between her and her clients helped them want to make positive changes in their lives. You could not be around her for long without wanting to become better.

Dr. Pat Morgan was not one for self-promotion. Word-of-mouth was what brought business success to her psychotherapy practice. At the time of her passing, more than 50 people were on her waiting list. In addition, she was on the EMDRIA planning committee where she selected presenters for international conferences and participate by introducing speakers and evaluating their presentations.

She did not talk about lofty goals, but rather accepted challenges and opportunities as they evolved, always seeking to be the best at whatever she did. She traveled in extensively through Italy, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States.

She was the author of the acclaimed resilience book, Mastectomy—From Devastation to Resilience, an inspirational book about cancer survivors and their personal growth.
