Our condolences on the death of John. He was a table mate in the dining hall at Wesbury with my Mom(Evelena). She enjoyed visiting with him on a daily basis. She appreciated his sense of humor and the kindness her showed her. I taught in the district for many years so JOhn and I had many common interests to discuss as well as an interest in cars when we were both in the market for a new one. God bless your family at this time. Sincerely Susan Abbondanza

I first met "Mr.Kerr" the principal while attending Cochranton Elementary. Over the years we kept in touch. He used to visit "Gilberts Restaurant" in Cochranton as I waited on tables. But for the past 5 years I have enjoyed visiting him at "Wesbury Cribbs Home". My son, Austin plays piano for the residents, and John always had a good thing to say. John always talked to my husband Larry about cars, which they both thoroughly enjoyed. I now work for Wesbury in the IT Department and whenever I would run into John, there was always a smile and a laugh. He was a very special person whom will be missed.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Kerr briefly last fall as part of a class I was teaching at Allegheny College. He was generous with his time, and one of my students interviewed Mr. Kerr on his memories of the 1930s. For those who are interested you can listen to the interview at https://dspace.allegheny.edu/handle/10456/8105. Mr. Kerr will be missed.

My first memories of Mr. Kerr were as my principle at Cochranton Elementary School back in the 70's. He would always stand out in the bus area and watch over us kids like a hawk, "no running, no pushing, everyone line up." I also remember his big brown Cadilac. Thank you for helping mold so many young children into great adults.

We were saddened to hear of Mr. Kerr's death. Yet, during this Lenten season Mr. Kerr's death brings an early sign of The Resurrection. Alleluia! I worked with/for Mr. Kerr at Cochranton Area Elementary School. The professional guidance he extended to me has enriched my life. Our conversations have given me many memories. Mr. Kerr was happy to see people and share his life's stories and jokes with others. Wow! He had some good ones! He was a most generous giver, often anonymously, to many of his students. He stressed to his staff that we were teaching children vs. "covering curriculum." H was a friend who will be missed. Yes, Mr. Kerr was a man who "walked his talk," with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.

John Kerr was a member our the Cochranton Lions Club for many years. He was president in 1970-71 and served in a number of other capacities over the years. He was, most recently, the coordinator of the "glasses for school children" program where the Lions are able to provide free glasses to school children and others in need. He took special pride in overseeing this program as he was always especially concerned for the well being of our young citizens. While John was not able to participate much in recent years, he was very active until then. He will be sorely missed as a valuable contributor to the Cochranton community through the Lions Club and in many other ways.

John, you will be sadly missed, especially at our 5:15 PM Saturday Masses. You were so faithful and Christ-like, especially in your benevolence to our church needs, the needs of Holy Name and Altar Rosary societies, as well as the Meadville Area Soup Kitchen. You will be in our prayers. Thank you, John, for being an inspiration in our parish!
