Frank Philip Faraone, age 77, of Nebraska Road, Tionesta, PA, died on February 25, 2010, peacefully at home.
Born on January 16, 1933, in Mayburg, PA, he was the son of Philip Anthony Faraone and Ruth M. Moore.
Mr. Faraone was a 1952 graduate of Farmington High School. He was co-owner of Faraone Grocery in Newmansville until 1985 with his brother. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Venus, PA. He was a longtime member an officer with Tionesta Lions Club and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, Previous Boy Scout Leader-Order of the Arrow, and he enjoyed his grandchildren, golfing, woodworking, gardening, and reading. He was a founding member of Forest County Taxpayer Association and Treasurer. He served two terms on Forest Area Board of Education, was a Green Township Forest Fire Warden and Supervisor, a founding member of the Allegheny Valley Sportsman Association and previously was a school bus driver with North Clarion and West Forest School Districts.
Frank was a veteran of the Navy.
On November 1, 1958, he married Janet Avery in the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, who survives.
He is survived by one son: Philip Faraone and his wife Laura of Houston, TX and one daughter: Sue Gourley and her husband, Bob, from New Bethlehem, PA, three grandchildren: Alex Gourley, Hawaii, Olivia Gourley and Elizabeth Gourley of New Bethlehem, PA and two step grandsons, Dallas King and Dillon King of Houston, TX. He is also survived by one brother, Albinus Faraone, Newmansville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joseph Faraone, Sr. and two sisters, Lois Costa and Joanna Farrell and two infant sisters.
The family will receive family and friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, Venus, PA. A memorial service will be held at the church at 1:00 PM with Pastor John Woods officiating.
Interment will be in the Tylersburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Tionesta Lions Club or to a charity of your choice.
Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, Clarion, PA is handling the arrangements.
