Thanks to Shelly & Christa for sharing your hearts at Friday's memorial service. Although I saw Dana only a few times after Kelly & I were married, I have warm memories of how he treated me when I was a boy. I remember that he umpired a baseball game I played in when I was 8, in which I ended up scoring the winning run on a close play / collision at home plate (he first called me out, then safe when the catcher dropped the ball). Then after beating me a few times at chess in 6th grade, he taught me how to win in 4 moves so that I could dethrone the class champion for one day. He had the rare gift of helping a young boy feel like a hero. I also remember playing cards, watching the Steelers, attending his softball games and minstrel show / concerts, and listening to him tell his incredibly funny stories. I will remember him as a fun, intelligent, and passionate man whom we were blessed to have as part of our extended family. May the Lord bless you and provide comfort as only He can. Rod

Our deepest sympathy to Shelley, Christa and familiy. My Dad knew Dana for years as they worked together plus bowled together plus had a daughter in the same grade at EF HS. So our families paths have crossed many times for many years. When my Mom was dying of cancer I was forever greatful to Dana who graciously drove my Dad to an eye appointment in Brookville after having cataract surgery. It was wonderful to have a friend like that.
