Donna Yvonne Byers, age 76 of Knox, PA went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at her home in Ninevah, PA. She was born on July 12, 1933 in Limestone, Clarion County. She was the daughter of the late Leslie C. and Laura Mae Girts Henry.
She graduated from Clarion Limestone High school in 1951. After graduation she was employed by J.C. Penny Company.
On June 1, 1956 she was married to Earl Byers, who survivor. After her marriage to Earl, she was a wonderful house wife and helped her husband operate a poultry farm in Ninevah for many years. At age eleven she accepted Jesus Christ to be her Savior and served him faithfully all of her life. She was a member of the Grace E.C. Church in Ninevah. For several years she taught a children’s Sunday school class there. Many more years she worked faithfully for the cause of missions. She loved to serve the Lord and she loved her family dearly. Knowing her passing was near, she called for all of her children and grandchildren to come to the hospital and witnessed to each one about Jesus Christ. She said I want to see you all in Heaven. Donna loved flowers, gardening and playing games with family and friends. From early childhood Donna was afflicted with breathing and hearing problems. In spite of this she was blessed with an infectious smile and winning personality and had many friends. She was well known by friends and family for her good cooking and delicious pies. In addition to her husband she is survived by three children and their wives, Robert and his wife Lane Byers, Thomas and his wife Cindy Byers and Joseph and his wife Rhonda Byers all of Knox, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1-sister, Alice Lou Henry Byers, 1-brother, James Henry and a granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Byers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 7-9 and Monday 2-4, 7-9 at the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Grace E.C. Church in Ninevah with Rev. Rick Osberg officiating. Interment will follow in the Starr Cemetery. On line condolences may be sent to www.goblefh.net.
